Lab Testing Didn't Explain Your Gut Symptoms? What to Do Now

Years ago, the greatest barrier to care was simply getting access to lab testing. Today it is the opposite. Clients come to us with extensive testing already in hand, but without a firm grasp on what was actually found, how it was addressed, and where to go next.

In the last couple of years, the tables have turned. More and more of the people coming into our practice already have labs, sometimes several of them. The issue is no longer access. It is that the labs were never given a thorough, curious evaluation to understand what is actually at play.

What We See Again & Again

Here are the scenarios I am seeing again and again:

  1. Someone got a single stool test and was treated for the results, but their gut, fatigue, and skin issues persisted. Often this comes down to not having enough information and needing to look deeper at how the gut issues showed up in the first place.

  2. A client has robust blood labs from a direct-to-consumer company like Function Health, which I love, but no trusted provider looking closely enough to tell the story of why they are dealing with constipation, acne, PMS, and anxiety. Their PCP says everything looks normal, but they do not feel well, so they are seeking deeper interpretation and guidance.

  3. Someone has three or four functional labs, a real wealth of information, and the provider they were working with was helpful, but they have plateaued in their care. They want a second opinion to understand if something is being missed, or simply another set of eyes on their case.

The Case Review Call

All of these are why we created Case Review Calls.

A Case Review Call is a one-hour lab review with me. We dive deeper into your labs, your symptoms, and your health history so I can share our perspective on the data and how we would support you in our practice. It is meant to serve as a second opinion, a sounding board, and a path forward: what your labs mean, what we are seeing, and how we would approach your case.

If you choose to move forward into our care, the cost of the call is applied to the cost of your program. If you would rather take the insights from the call and use them to support your care elsewhere, you are welcome to do exactly that. Our greatest goal is to create clarity: the true story of your health, the places where we might need more information or a different approach, and a clear next step.
